RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Our research and development work grows out of a multi-year project conducted in collaboration with NTNU – Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Rusfeltets Hovedorganisasjon, and Stiftelsen Medvandrerne, with funding support from Stiftelsen DAM. Together, we explore how nature-based, attachment-informed practices can strengthen recovery capital, enrich treatment outcomes, and support long-term wellbeing for people navigating addiction and mental health challenges. The project combines field research, theoretical development, and applied experimentation, aiming to translate emerging insights into practical tools that benefit practitioners, organisations, and communities. This page presents the key outputs of our work—opportunities to learn, participate, and apply knowledge that is continually shaped through collaboration.

  • Talks Sharing the heart of our work into powerful stories, designed to inspire the wider public and spark new ways of thinking about recovery, nature, and human resilience.

  • Symposia Uniting researchers, clinicians, peers, and partner organisations to explore emerging themes, and advance the knowledge base of outdoor treatment practice

  • Resources Open access to papers, frameworks, and practical tools that translate research findings into actionable resources for the wider recovery and mental health field.

  • TALKS

Our talks bring the core insights of our work to the wider public through engaging stories that illuminate new possibilities for recovery and human resilience. These talks weave together lived experience, field observations, and emerging research to spark curiosity and inspire change. They offer an accessible introduction to nature-based and attachment-informed recovery, inviting audiences to rethink what healing can look like—individually, collectively, and as a society.

  • SYMPOSIA

Through symposia and co-organised events, we create meeting points for researchers, clinicians, peers, and students to explore emerging themes in recovery and adventure-based practice. These gatherings bring together diverse voices across our partner organisations, integrating dialogue, experiential learning, and shared inquiry. The symposia cultivate a living knowledge community dedicated to advancing outdoor therapeutic practices approaches in recovery support and mental health care.

  • RESOURCES

Our resource library provides open access to materials developed through the research project, including academic papers, conceptual frameworks, practical guides, and field-based tools. These are designed to support implementation across clinical, community, and educational contexts. Whether you are seeking theoretical grounding or applied methods, the resources help translate research into action and strengthen the wider conversation around recovery and nature-based therapeutic practice.
